Nothing about 2020 has been what anyone expected, and this fall will be no exception. As we did in spring and summer, we will have to produce new things to do in fall. Do not worry, you can still re-create the best parts of fall at home!
Fall is one of our favorite seasons here at Acorn Stairlifts — the pumpkins, the crisp air, the coffee, the amazing-smelling candles! But this year, many autumn activities will either change or completely cancel due to staying safe with the ongoing pandemic. Nothing about 2020 has been what anyone expected, and this fall will be no exception. As we did in spring and summer, we will have to produce new things to do in fall. Do not worry, you can still re-create the best parts of fall at home! Let’s explore some of the activities we can do with family and friends this season.
Family-Friendly Crafts
Take this opportunity of more time at home to do some fall-themed crafts, as they are so much fun for the whole family. Toddlers can enjoy finger-painting on the pumpkin with the family. Whereas older kids can be more creative works of art. A less messy alternative can be helping little kids color pumpkins on paper plates. Once they’ve completed their project hang it on the wall to showcase their masterpiece. Also, a wonderful way to incorporate any seniors this season is to tap into their artistry. If they’ve dabbled in the arts, it would be best to just follow their lead.
Decorate Your House in a Big Way
One of the greatest parts of the season is decorating your own home for fall! Don’t get discouraged because many visitors might not come by this year. Yet, feel free to hang up an autumn wreath on your front door, or add faux pumpkins to your mantel. Maybe bring out your favorite "harvest" or "gather" signs to hang on your walls. Pick up black, orange, and white lights or get the kids to help craft giant spiders for a spookier décor. Go all out!
Bake your favorite fall-inspired foods
Fall is here and the deliciously warm and comforting flavors of autumn an upon us. Food just gets better when the weather cools down. Imagine a crisp fall night cozying up near the fire while the oven fills your home with the mouth-watering scent of fresh bread, cakes, cookies, and more delicious treats. Due to the pandemic, it's not easily accessible for all family members to make their way over especially your elderly loved ones. We suggest the best way to incorporate them into these fall traditions would be to utilize video chat services. Allow the kiddos and the seniors to work together to determine the delicious goodies. Apple pie, pumpkin spice, butternut squash, there are so many fall-inspired flavors to explore! Feeling adventurous this fall, how about snuggling near the firepit roasting marshmallow for a toasty sweet treat. If this sounds like your idyllic fall activity this may be perfect for your family.
Even though nowadays, we are living day-to-day in the unknown. Yet, holidays with the family are all about what you make of it. By incorporating some of these ideas into your normal fall traditions, it allows you to create new memories, as well as keeping everyone safe during these uncertain times. Keep a couple of these ideas bookmarked and you will be prepared for anything!
